Birth Doula Support

If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.

What’s a Doula?

The word doula comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves.” Today, it describes a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and just after birth—or education, emotional, and practical support in the postpartum period.

Why it matters: Studies show that when doulas attend births, labors are shorter, complications are fewer, babies are healthier, and breastfeeding is more successful.

Evidence-Based Guidance & Advocacy

We help you connect with trusted, evidence-based resources so you can ask the right questions and make informed decisions. Acting as a bridge between you and your providers, we help you find your voice and advocate for the care you deserve.

From the moment you hire us, you have unlimited access to your doulas throughout your pregnancy and birth journey.

Emotional Support

Pregnancy and birth are emotional as well as physical experiences. We create a safe, nurturing space so the hormones of labor can work optimally. Whether your birth is unmedicated or medically complex, you deserve connection and compassion during this powerful life transition.

Physical Support

We bring “doula magic” to every birth—using hands-on comfort measures like acupressure, counter pressure, massage, and breathing techniques, as well as position suggestions to encourage comfort and labor progress.

We also teach bodywork for a balanced pelvic floor and help babies in less-than-ideal positions navigate the pelvis for a smoother birth.

What We Do as Birth Doulas

  • Recognize birth as a life-defining experience

  • Understand birth physiology and emotional needs

  • Assist with birth plan preparation and follow-through

  • Provide continuous support through labor and the first hours postpartum

  • Support initial breastfeeding

  • Offer an objective, calm presence

  • Facilitate clear communication with care providers

  • Help partners feel confident, involved, and less overwhelmed

Why Use a Doula?

Women need more than medical care in childbirth—they need continuous reassurance, comfort, and respect. Doulas provide individualized care, using non-medical physical, emotional, and informational support that research shows can:

  • Shorten labor and reduce complications

  • Lower the likelihood of interventions (Pitocin, vacuum, forceps, Cesareans)

  • Reduce pain medication requests

  • Improve breastfeeding success

  • Boost postpartum confidence and reduce depression
